Bogan Critics Review

New Indian Express
The first half is fairly interesting, racy and manages to sustain the suspense and the momentum. The early scenes depict the life style of Vikram the cop and Aditya the criminal. Jayam Ravi with his scrubbed clean look and sincerity fits in comfortably as the honest cop, while Arvind Swamy as Aditya is flashy, outgoing, essaying his role with aplomb. It was a film expected with some anticipation. But 'Bogan' disappoints.
First Post
The title Bogan is also an Australian slang for “an uncouth or unsophisticated person regarded as being of low social status”. The trailer showed both Ravi and Arvind in a heady exchange of such brashness, but Bogan belongs to Arvind Swamy’s Aditya, undoubtedly. A shriek of a heroine without a shred of common sense — Hansika dodges her bubbly image in her first drunken scene act in Bogan. Visuals are pleasing, and so are Hansika’s and Arvind’s costumes.
Hindustan Times
The first 30 minutes of Lakshman’s Bogan give us a colour combo of confusing cocktail. The film opens with an Arvind Swami (playing Aditya) in bed with a bevy of half-clad beauties all sprawled over him. The only feature that redeems Bogan from sinking into the water that we find the evil palm leaf land at the end is performance. ayam is okay, quite controlled most of the time, but certainly fares poorly when it comes to range.
Behindwoods
There is a fantasy element in the film which looks fascinating during the early parts of the movie but gets a little boring towards the end, especially during the climax sequences. Villain's character sketch is well written. He looks so deadly. But someone who is so intelligent and powerful gets a similar ending just like in any another masala film, isn’t convincing. Verdict: Bogan could have seduced more with a sharper screenplay!
Indiaglitz
Jayam Ravi has done his homework enough and is evident on the screen with his onscreen imitation of Arvind Swamy as they switch roles and pick the action in second half. The movie could have been tad shorter, even though the enmity is established the plot goes on in the same fashion making us look for a different approach after a point. Verdict : Rides high on Arvind Swami and Jayam Ravi’s performances.
