Vadakkumnathan movie is based on the trials and tribulations Sanskrit Professor Bharat Pisharody (Mohanlal) faces in his life. Meera (Padmapriya) who is his student and cousin, is all set to marry him!.
But fate intervenes. Just as the marriage date is fixed, Bharat Pisharody goes missing. What happened to him? The rest of the film unearths the mystery behind the disappearance of the professor.
