Nivin Pauly, who appears as Bhai in the movie, delivers the finest performance of his career so far. The actor essays the two extremely different personalities of his character to near perfection.
Although it does not play out smoothly all through, Moothon has enough depth in it for us to dive deep, and come back with material to ponder.
The director is indeed the captain of this ship here. The spine of Moothon is a powerful story that is a meditation on gender identity and love.
Akbar aka Bhai is easily the best work of Nivin Pauly. His transformation from being the hopeful and optimistic Akbar to an emotionally tough Bhai is truly appreciable.
Moothon is packed with top-notch performances. Nivin beautifully straddles the contrasting sides of Akbar's character.
It’s good that the movie plays with subtitles. The language is a curious mix of Tamil and Malayalam spoken in Lakshadweep.
