Rakshit Shetty is an Indian film actor, director, screenwriter, lyricist, and producer best known for his work in Kannada cinema. He is called the Simple Star in the Kannada film industry. Rakshit made his breakthrough with his role in Suni's Simple Agi Ondh Love Story. In 2014, he made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film Ulidavaru Kandanthe, in which he also played the lead role. He went on to act in commercially successful films including Ricky (2016), Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu (2016), and Kirik Party (2016); his consecutive success in films made him one of the most successful and sought-after actors in south Indian cinema. Rakshit received the Karnataka State Film Awards for Best Debutant Director for the film Ulidavaru Kandanthe. He also received the Filmfare Award for Best Director for his directorial debut, Ulidavaru Kandanthe. Early and personal life Rakshit Shetty was born in Udupi, Karnataka, into a bunt family on June 6, 1983. Rakshit did his initial schooling in Udupi and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, in 2005. Rakshit was employed at Symphony in Bangalore for around 2 years. However, he resigned and followed his call for a career in cinema. As Director Rakshit is most successful as both an actor and a director, having received the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Debutant Director for the film Ulidavaru Kandanthe as well as the Filmfare Award for Best Director. As producer Shetty has produced his maiden film, Kirik Party, which has been commercially successful at the Indian box office.
