In Happy New Year, a bunch of awkward dancers — Shah Rukh Khan leads the star cast that comprises Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Sonu Sood — take part in an international dance competition in an attempt to pull off a bank robbery in Dubai.

Happy New Year will see the team of Farah Khan-Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone reunite after the 2007 blockbuster Om Shanti Om. In an interview Farah Khan said " A part of Happy New Year is inspired by western pop culture, the pop music videos of Michael Jackson, Madonna and Duran Duran in the ’80s".

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan is not known for his physics in Bollywood. But after Happy New Year, SRK is now the first Bollywood star to have '8 pack abs' for the first time in any Bollywood movie till date.

The movie already had earned more than 400 crores before release. 200 Crores from selling television and music rights and 200 crores from its promotion.
