Balraj Singh Ghai was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and comes from a strong business background as the son of noted hotelier Paramjit Ghai. He pursued a degree in hospitality from the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHMCTAN), Mumbai, graduating in 2009. With deep roots in his family’s hotel business, including Hotel Unicontinental, Balraj later expanded his interests into the entertainment space, where he has played a key role in supporting and growing India’s stand-up comedy scene through his recent ventures.

Balraj Singh Ghai began his career with ITC Hotels in sales and marketing before joining his family business to manage Hotel Unicontinental in Mumbai, later expanding into hospitality with The Fern The Habitat Hotel in Pune. In 2016, he founded The Habitat Studios, which quickly became a popular hub for stand-up comedy in Mumbai. Alongside this, he also explored media production, working as a sound designer for Shut Up Ya Kunal (2018) and as an associate producer for Akash Gupta’s Aalas Motaapa Ghabraahat (2021).

Balraj Ghai is married to Chandni Anand Ghai, and together they have two children, a son, Tanvir, and a daughter, Herbani. Chandni comes from a professional background in law and corporate work before transitioning into motherhood and content creation. Their son, Tanvir Singh Ghai, is the elder child and is often seen in family holiday pictures and fun videos with Balraj and comedians like Samay Raina. Their younger daughter, Herbani Kaur Ghai, fondly called “Bani G,” was born in late 2020 and is frequently featured in Chandni’s affectionate posts.
