Mani Ratnam is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who predominantly works in Tamil cinema. He is known for his romance and socio-political themes. He rose to fame with the romantic drama movie movie Mouna Ragam stars Mohan, Revathi and Karthik. Mani Ratnam won his first Filmfare Award and Notion National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil at the 34th National Film Awards for directing the movie Mouna Ragam. Through Nayagan starring Kamal Haasan, and the movie became a huge success and brought him recognition at the national level.
