The trend of item numbers in Tollywood dates back to 1970s and the experts from the industry opine that reviving this trend has proved beneficial in recent years. These kind of songs have a key role in the success of movies. Many Telugu filmmakers treat them as one of their success mantras. They release the dance numbers to create hype for their films. The success of the item songs will have a big impact of trade dynamics of any Telugu films.

Like every year, 2013 has also seen a huge number of such special numbers. As many as 30 item songs have been included in various Telugu movies this year, but not many of them are successful. A few of them have proved to be a big hit and have successfully driven the audience crazy towards the theatres, thereby boosting the collection of a few movies at the Box Office. Experts opine that besides the heroes' popularity, the item songs helped them grab eyeballs of film goers.

Attarintiki Daredi has been the highest grosser of 2013. Besides the Pawanmania, the huge success of its item number 'Its time to party...' help the makers to drive the audience to theatres. Composed by Devi Sri Prasad, this song featured Mumtaz, Hamsa Nandini, Samantha and Pranitha alongside Pawan.

Mirchi Title Track

Chinna Ponnu has crooned the title track of Mirchi, while Devi Sri Prasad composed music for this item song, which featured Hamsa Nandini with Prabhas.

Welcome Kanakam

The item song 'Welcome Kanakam' in Baadshah has become the most popular number of the year. Composed by S Thaman, the song has Bhaskarabhatla's trendy lyrics, and Soumya Rao and Jaspreet Jasz's voice. Nicole Amy Madell has grooved to the tunes of the track alongside Junior NTR.

Nellore

'Nellore' is a hot item number from the movie Naayak and Charmi is seen alongside Ram Charan Teja in the dance number.
