Kara Box Office Collection Day 5: Dhanush's Film Crosses ₹25 Cr India Net, Touches ₹38 Cr Worldwide
Kara Box Office Collection: The Tamil heist drama Kara, headlined by Dhanush, continued its theatrical run into its first Monday with a noticeable dip in collections. The film, which released on April 30, 2026, has completed five days at the box office and is now in its Day 6 (Tuesday, May 5).

Directed by Vignesh Raja, Kara opened to moderate numbers over its first weekend. However, as is typical for many theatrical releases, weekday footfall appears to have declined. According to box office tracking data from Sacnilk, the film earned ₹1.80 crore net in India on Day 5 across 3,226 shows. This marks a significant drop compared to its weekend figures.
With this, the film's total India net collection stands at ₹25.15 crore, while the India gross has reached ₹29.05 crore so far. Overseas, Kara added ₹0.50 crore on its fifth day, pushing its international gross to ₹9.65 crore. The combined worldwide gross collection is now estimated at ₹38.70 crore.
A closer look at the day-wise performance shows that the film had a relatively strong opening. It collected ₹6.20 crore on Day 1, followed by ₹6.95 crore on Day 2. The numbers dipped slightly over the weekend, with ₹5.20 crore on Saturday and ₹5.00 crore on Sunday, before falling further on Monday.
In terms of language-wise contribution on Day 5, the Tamil version led the collections with ₹1.40 crore, while the Telugu version contributed ₹0.40 crore. The overall occupancy on Monday stood at 16.3%, indicating reduced audience turnout compared to previous days.
Kara Plot, Cast And Production Details
Kara is set in Ramanathapuram in 1991 and unfolds over a span of 16 days. The story follows Karasaami, a man drawn back into circumstances tied to his past while trying to safeguard those around him. The narrative is set against the backdrop of the war between Iraq and the United States.
The film features an ensemble cast including Mamitha Baiju, K. S. Ravikumar, Karunas, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Sreeja Ravi, among others. The film's music has been composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with cinematography by Theni Eswar and editing handled by Sreejith Sarang.
