To note, National Film Awards features two types of medal which awarded across the categories. These including Golden Lotus medal and Silver Lotus medal. To note, Golden Lotus medal symbolises excellence and is the highest honour. It is awarded for Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Feature Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Children's Film, Best Film (Animation, VFX, Gaming) and Best Debutant Director categories respectively.

On the other hand, Silver Medal is awarded in the categories of Best Actor (Leading Role), Best Actress (Leading Role), Best Child Artist, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Child Artist, Best Playback Singer (Male/Female), Best Cinematography, Best Music Direction. Besides, National Film Awards also have a special category of lifetime achievement award as Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

National Film Awards 2026 Winners' Prize Money Revealed

To note, National Film Awards winners will get a medal along with an official certificate signed by the President. Interestingly, the prize money is awarded as per the medals they get. For the uninitiated, National Film Awards winners receiving the Golden Lotus medal get a cash prize of Rs 3 lakhs from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. On the other hand, the recipients of Silver Lotus medal get a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs. Meanwhile, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award winners get a cash prize of 15 lakhs along with a shawl and Golden Lotus medal.
