Balti OTT Release Date: After completing its theatrical run last year, Balti is preparing to make its digital debut. The Malayalam action drama, headlined by Shane Nigam, is set against the backdrop of the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border and combines action with themes of friendship, loyalty and crime. Written and directed by debutant Unni Sivalingam, the film features a bilingual narrative with dialogues in both Malayalam and Tamil, reflecting the setting of the story.

Produced by STK Frames and Binu George Alexander Productions, Balti also stars Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Preethi Asrani in key roles, while Alphonse Puthren, Poornima Indrajith and Selvaraghavan appear in supporting parts. The film marked Shanthanu Bhagyaraj's return to Malayalam cinema after a gap of 16 years. It was released in theatres on September 26, 2025.

Balti plot

The story unfolds in Velampalayam and follows Udhayan, better known as Balti, a skilled kabaddi player who shares a close bond with his mother and a loyal circle of friends. Their lives take an unexpected turn after a local tournament victory brings them into contact with influential financier Porthamarai Bhairavan, whose network extends into illegal finance and land dealings.

As Udhayan and his friends become increasingly entangled in Bhairavan's world, they find themselves facing difficult choices that test their relationships and personal values. The narrative explores how ambition, loyalty and the consequences of crime gradually reshape their lives, placing Udhayan at the centre of an escalating conflict.

Along with Shane Nigam, the film features Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Preethi Asrani, Alphonse Puthren, Selvaraghavan and Poornima Indrajith in prominent roles. Unni Sivalingam has written and directed the project in his feature directorial debut.

The technical crew includes cinematographer Alex J. Pulickal, editor Shivkumar V. Panicker and composer Sai Abhyankkar, who made his feature film debut as a music director with Balti. The production has been backed by Santhosh T. Kuruvilla and Binu George Alexander under the banners STK Frames and Binu George Alexander Productions.

Balti OTT release date and platform

Balti will begin streaming on Sony LIV from July 10, 2026. The announcement was made through the platform's official social media handles on July 1, revealing that the film will be available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, allowing audiences across multiple language markets to watch it.

The confirmation puts an end to speculation surrounding the film's digital premiere and gives viewers a fixed date to catch the action drama from home. With its multilingual release, Balti is expected to reach audiences beyond its original theatrical market when it arrives on Sony LIV later this month.
