The Odyssey India Release Date: After The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Disclosure Day, another Hollywood biggie, The Odyssey, is set to hit the silver screen this week, and moviegoers just can't keep calm. Directed by the iconic Christopher Nolan, it is adapted from Homer's ancient Greek epic the Odyssey, and features Matt Damon in the titular role.

Not just in the United States, The Odyssey has been creating a huge buzz in India as well, and the film's recent Mumbai premiere proved the same. Also featuring Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and Zendaya, among others, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certification details of the epic fantasy action drama are doing the rounds on the internet.

Advance bookings for The Odyssey are already open, with the film set to release in India on July 17. According to the latest reports, the movie has completed the certification process and received an A (Adult) rating from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Yes, you read that right!

The film's approved runtime is said to be 172.33 minutes, which is 2 hours, 52 minutes and 33 seconds. The censor certificate was reportedly issued on July 9.

THE ODYSSEY OVERVIEW: RELEASE DATE, PLOT, AND CAST DETAILS

For those unaware, The Odyssey follows Odysseus' decade-long journey back to Ithaca after the Trojan War, to reunite with his family. During this journey, Odysseus encounters a Cyclops, Polyphemus, and the son of Poseidon. Their meeting results in a series of events that delay his return to him as he endures years of trials.

Besides the above-mentioned names, the movie also stars Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Bill Irwin, Elliot Page, and Benny Safdie in important roles.

While Matt Damon essays the lead role of King Odysseus (known as Ulysses in Latin), Anne Hathaway will be seen as Penelope, Odysseus' wife. On the other hand, the Twilight star Robert Pattinson plays the pivotal role of Antinous, one of Penelope's prominent suitors.
