Disclosure Day Review: A Cosmic Disappointment From a Hollywood Legend

Rating:
2.0/5
Star Cast: Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth,
Director: Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg is often credited with bringing viewers to the edge of their seats for the past several decades. He has created classic films about entertaining ideas like a monstrous shark ('Jaws'), an alien in search of friends ('E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial'), Jurassic Park, and war ('Saving Private Ryan'). Spielberg's ideas have been the foundation for films that people connect to, and that are unforgettable.

Spielberg's genius lies in his ability to lead audiences and bring them to care for the characters that are caught in the whirlwind of these extraordinary events ('Schindler's List'). Unfortunately, this is why the film 'Disclosure Day' falls short of the high expectations that people had for the film.

Marketing the film as an epic science fiction scenario, the film happens to cover the spectrum of extraterrestrial phenomena, classified government secrets, UFOs, espionage, and the mysteries of the future of humanity. But his latest film, "Disclosure Day," is awful. The title is misleading; it actually shows that even legends have their limits.

It seems as though this film has the potential to be an epic movie as it has all the foundations that a Spielberg classic has. However, this film lacks the ability to get audiences on the edge of their seats and emotionally invest them in the storyline.

Rather, the film lacks the ability to sustain audiences while it explains the plot, rationing a lengthy explanation of the plot. The film is riddled with exposition, but the main and central plot remains uninteresting

While there are a few instances of Spielberg's artistry in the film, the film lacks suspense and stargazing wonder. The film also lacks awe for visual stimuli as it is about aliens and the cosmos. However, the actors Emily Blunt, Josh O' Connor, and Colman Domingo do their best to energize and sustain the story.

Disclosure Day is unengaging and the film's special effects and action are strangely lifeless and confusing. You are frequently asked simply to accept whatever is happening
