Sunil Pal Lashes Out At Pranit More Amid 370 Biryani Controversy; Calls Him ‘Comedy Ka Kalank’

The row over comedian Pranit More and audience member Himanshu Jangra keeps drawing attention online after the viral ₹370 biryani remark. Several comedians have criticised the exchange, and veteran comedian Sunil Pal has now joined the debate. He also questioned why controversial comedians get mainstream stages like Bigg Boss and Kaun Banega Crorepati.

In a video that is now deleted, Sunil attacked Pranit in harsh terms and called him "Comedy ka Kalank". He said that some young men and women try to pass off obscenity as comedy before audiences. He added that such acts may help them earn money, but also harm India’s youth.

Sunil also said venue owners should set firm rules against obscene acts on stage. He argued that many performers depend on abusive words and vulgar jokes during shows. According to him, no unhealthy ideas or indecent talk should be allowed at such events, and only strict action can bring the issue under control.

He went further, saying he often calls such people the “terrorists of society”. He explained, "Because what is not understood in the right spirit has no place in society." Sunil said the phrase reflects his belief that comedy should not be used to spread harmful behaviour among viewers.

His comments also brought Samay Raina into the discussion. Sunil questioned why such performers are invited to Bigg Boss and Kaun Banega Crorepati, and why they are promoted so much. He said society and honest comedians feel worried when abusive language gets rewarded on large platforms.

Sunil added that if good people are not encouraged, the same kind of market will keep growing. He warned that the stigma around comedy in India will keep rising in the name of entertainment. He said the public already sees the effect of such content on audiences and feels uneasy about it.

In another part of the video, Sunil said, "Aaj samaj aur hum jaise comedians dara hua aur ghabraya hua hai....ki inhe kyun Bigg Boss mein bulaya jata hai, inhe kyun KBC mein bulaya jata, inhe kyun aage badhaya jata hai jab gali galoch karne wale ye log hain? Agar acche logon ko aap aage nahi leke aaoge toh issi type ka market banega aur iss tarah se Comedy ke naam pe Kalank humare desh main badhta jaayega."

The controversy began during Pranit’s recent stand-up show in Gurugram. He was speaking with Himanshu Jangra, who shared a dating story from his own life. During that exchange, Himanshu said that after spending ₹370 on a woman’s meal, he expected intimacy in return.

A clip of that moment spread quickly on social media and drew sharp criticism. Many viewers objected to the remark and said it crossed a line. The online reaction added more pressure to the larger discussion around stage humour, public conduct, and the limits of comedy.

Another video from the same show also became widely shared online. It showed a woman doctor, Sejal Pawar, making a joke about the private parts of a dead man. The comments triggered strong backlash, and Pawar later posted a public apology on social media.

After the uproar, Pranit, Himanshu and Sejal were booked by the Maharashtra Cyber Police. The case is linked to allegations of obscenity and sexual harassment. The National Commission for Women also summoned Pranit and Himanshu, saying the remarks appeared to glorify and applaud non-consensual conduct towards a woman.

This is not the first time Sunil Pal has criticised fellow comedians. After the India’s Got Latent row, he had earlier called Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia “terrorists”. His latest comments show that he remains sharply opposed to comedy he sees as vulgar or harmful.
