Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha Death: Thailand is mourning the loss of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, the eldest child of King Vajiralongkorn. The Bureau of the Royal Household confirmed that the princess passed away peacefully at Bangkok's Chulalongkorn Hospital on Thursday evening while receiving medical care. She was 47 years old.
The announcement marks a sad chapter for the Thai royal family, as Princess Bajrakitiyabha had remained under intensive medical supervision since suffering a serious health crisis several years ago.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha had been in a coma for more than three years before her death. Her health struggles began in December 2022 when she suddenly collapsed while exercising with her dogs.
Medical experts later revealed that the incident was linked to a severe cardiac arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, which was reportedly triggered by a mycoplasma infection affecting her heart. Despite prolonged treatment and continuous medical care, the princess never fully recovered from the condition.
Who Was Bajrakitiyabha?
Widely respected for her humanitarian initiatives and contributions to the legal field, Princess Bajrakitiyabha was one of the most accomplished members of Thailand's royal family.
Born on December 7, 1978, at Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall in Bangkok's Dusit Palace, she was the eldest daughter and only child of King Vajiralongkorn and his first wife, Princess Soamsawali. She began her education at Rajini School before continuing her studies in the United Kingdom at Heathfield School in Ascot.
She never married and remained actively involved in public service prior to her health setback.
Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha Funeral Updates
Following the princess's passing, Thai authorities announced a 15-day period of national mourning. According to a report by the Bangkok Post, King Vajiralongkorn has also granted members of the public the opportunity to participate in royal mourning ceremonies.
The royal bathing rites will be held before the princess's portrait at Sahathai Samakhom Pavilion inside the Grand Palace on Saturday, June 13, between 8:30 a.m. and noon.
Beginning June 14, members of the public will be able to pay their respects daily at the same venue from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A book of condolences will also be available for visitors wishing to leave messages in her memory.
After the completion of the initial 15-day merit-making period, public tributes will continue at Phiman Rattaya Throne Hall, where people will be permitted to pay respects to the royal remains. The hall is scheduled to open to visitors daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. starting June 27.
