Raveena Tandon On Reunion With Akshay Kumar After 22 Years In Welcome To The Jungle: Nothing Has Changed...
Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar’s on-screen reunion in Welcome to the Jungle has brought back one of Hindi cinema’s most recognisable 1990s pairings. The actors, who were last seen together in films released in 2004, share screen space again after 22 years in Ahmed Khan’s ensemble comedy, which released in theatres on June 26, 2026.

For audiences who remember their run in action dramas and commercial entertainers, the reunion carries clear nostalgia value. Raveena has now spoken about working with Akshay again, saying the actor’s discipline on set remains the same despite his long career and sustained box-office presence.
Raveena Tandon praises Akshay Kumar’s work ethic
Speaking about the experience, Raveena said it felt “great” to work with Akshay after so many years. She added that his commitment to the job had not changed with time, and credited his success to the effort he continues to put into his work.
“I think it was great working with him after so many years. Nothing has changed in him. He is hardworking and dedicated. He is so involved that you can see the hard work. He deserves all the success that he gets because he really works hard for it. He doesn't get it easily. He really, really works hard. I mean, no one would be as dedicated on set as he was,” Raveena told ANI.
The comment is likely to interest fans because Akshay and Raveena’s professional history is tied to several popular Hindi films from the 1990s. Their pairing was associated with a period when action, music and larger-than-life commercial storytelling dominated mainstream Bollywood.
Among their best-known films together is Mohra, the 1994 Rajiv Rai-directed thriller that also starred Naseeruddin Shah and Suniel Shetty. The film became a major commercial success and remains remembered for its soundtrack, action staging and the screen presence of its lead cast.
The two actors also appeared in Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, released in 1996. Directed by Umesh Mehra, the film starred Akshay, Raveena and Rekha, and added to Akshay’s growing association with the “Khiladi” action brand during that decade.
Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon reunite after two decades
Raveena and Akshay’s other collaborations include Daava, Keemat: They Are Back and Barood. Their last films together before this reunion were Police Force: An Inside Story and Aan: Men At Work, both released in 2004.
The long gap makes Welcome to the Jungle more than just another multi-starrer for many viewers. It also places the film within a wider trend in Hindi cinema, where legacy pairings and familiar franchise titles are being used to reconnect with audiences across age groups.
Welcome to the Jungle is the third film in the Welcome franchise. The first film, Welcome, released in 2007 and featured Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal and Feroz Khan in key roles. Directed by Anees Bazmee, it became one of Bollywood’s widely recalled comedy entertainers.
The second film, Welcome Back, arrived in 2015 with John Abraham and Shruti Haasan stepping into central roles. Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Paresh Rawal continued in the franchise, while Anees Bazmee returned as director for the sequel.
The third instalment changes both scale and direction. Ahmed Khan directs Welcome to the Jungle, which is built around a large ensemble cast. The film is presented by AA Nadiadwala, Cape of Good Films and Star Studio18 in association with Seeta Films and Rakesh Dang.
Welcome to the Jungle brings a large ensemble cast
Apart from Akshay and Raveena, the film features Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Paresh Rawal, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi and Aftab Shivdasani.
The cast also includes Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela, Hemant Pandey, Brijendra Kala, Feroze Khan, the late Pankaj Dheer, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry, Jeetu Verma, Vrihi Kodvara and Bhagya Bhanushali.
Such a crowded cast points to the franchise’s continuing dependence on broad comedy, star combinations and familiar faces. For Hindi film viewers, the presence of Akshay, Raveena, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever also brings back performers closely linked with 1990s and 2000s commercial cinema.
Raveena’s remarks have added a personal layer to the film’s release conversation. Instead of focusing only on nostalgia, her comments underline Akshay’s reputation for a disciplined working style, a quality often discussed in connection with his long filmography and frequent releases.
With Welcome to the Jungle now in cinemas, the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon gives the film an additional talking point beyond its franchise value. For fans of their earlier collaborations, the film marks a rare return of a pairing that helped define a busy phase of mainstream Bollywood entertainment.
