GV Prakash Kumar has won the Best Music Direction award at the 72nd National Film Awards for his work on the Tamil film Amaran.

Shashwat Sachdev won the Best Music Director Award for the Hindi film Article 370.

Kartik Aaryan bags his first-ever National Film Award for Chandu Champion. Mammootty wins the Best Actor award for Bramayugam. The Best Actress award goes to Yami Gautam for Article 370.

Best Actor in Supporting Role goes to Sanjay Mishra for Bhakshak, while the Best Actress in Supporting Role is shared by Ropashree Varkady for Mithya (Kannada) and Sachana Namidass for Maharja (Tamil).

Vaikom Vijayalakshmi wins Best Female Playback Singer for ARM (Malayalam).

Abhay Jodhpurkar wins the Best Male Playback Singer award.

Best Dialogue - Venjy Atluri For Lucky Bhaskar (Telugu) Best Writer (Adapted) - Yogesh Deshpande Writer (Original) - Bandreddi Sukumar for Pushpa 2

Best Edition award goes to R Kalaivannan for Amaran (Tamil).

Best Costume Designer goes to Deepali Noor and Sheetal Sharma for Pushpa: The Rule (Pushpa 2).

Vijay Ganguly wins the National Award for Best Choreography for Stree 2.

The Best Action Direction award at the 72nd National Film Awards has been won by Anl Arasu for his stunt choreography in Maharaja (Tamil).

Starring Rajkummar Rao, Srikanth bags the Best Film in Hindi.

Feminichi Fathima is Best Malayalam Film. Meanwhile, Mithya wins the Best Film in the Kannada language.

Best Tamil Film is Raayan, while Committee Korulu bags the Best Telugu Film award.

The Special Mention honour at the 72nd National Film Awards has been awarded to sound mix engineer Suren G for Meiyazhagan and Dhanush for Captain Miller.

Anand L Rai has won the Best Direction award at the 72nd National Film Awards for helming the Hindi film Statue of Unity: Ekta Ka Prateek.

The Best Music Direction award at the 72nd National Film Awards has been won by Shivpal Singh Kang for the Marathi film Parat 41°chya Magavar (On the Trail of 41°).

Ram-Nami (Hindi) has received the National Award for Best Documentary in the non-feature film category.

The Best Narrator award at the 72nd National Film Awards has been presented to Soundarya Jayachandran for her narration in the English film Little Planet: A Tale of Frogs.

Special Mention goes to Chola Dora aur Sui (Hindi) and Bhadra Kali Natakam (Malayalam).

The Best Book on Cinema honour at the 72nd National Film Awards has been awarded to Naaniruvude Nimagaagi Naadiruvude Nanagaagi: Kannada Cinemada Thathva Matthu Rajakeeya (I Stand for You, the State Stands for Us: Political and Philosophical Dimensions of Kannada Cinema), authored by Kenchanuru Pradeep Kumar Shetty.

Sanjeev Srivastava has been honoured with the Best Film Critic award at the 72nd National Film Awards 2026.

2024 delivered several memorable performances and critically acclaimed films, making this year's National Film Awards race one of the most competitive in recent years. Mammootty earned widespread acclaim for his powerful performance in Bramayugam, while Allu Arjun impressed audiences once again with Pushpa 2. Prithviraj Sukumaran also emerged as a strong contender after his remarkable transformation in Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life, and Kartik Aaryan won praise for his performance in Chandu Champion. In the Best Actress race, Sai Pallavi (Amaran), Yami Gautam (Article 370), Shraddha Kapoor (Stree 2), Alia Bhatt (Jigra), and Kani Kusruti (All We Imagine As Light) were among the most talked-about names. Meanwhile, films such as Laapataa Ladies, All We Imagine As Light, Manjummel Boys, Premalu, and Hanu Man also emerged as strong contenders after winning both critical acclaim and audience appreciation.

An 11-member jury, chaired by acclaimed filmmaker Jayaraj, was entrusted with selecting this year's winners. Having previously served on the National Film Awards jury in 2012, Jayaraj returned to lead the panel as it carefully assessed entries from across the country before choosing the final recipients of the prestigious honours.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is set to unveil the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards today at 5:30 PM from the National Media Centre in New Delhi. The much-awaited announcement will also be livestreamed on PIB India's official YouTube channel.
