Jailer 2: Hrithik Roshan To Reunite With Rajinikanth Onscreen After 40 Years? Here's What We Know

Hrithik Roshan has joined Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 for a cameo. The two stars are set to share screen space again after Bhagwan Dada, the 1986 film where Hrithik worked as a child artist. The new part comes after Shah Rukh Khan stepped away from the same role because of King.

This cameo also brings Hrithik back beside Rajinikanth after nearly 40 years. The earlier collaboration was limited to Bhagwan Dada, but Jailer 2 creates a fresh pairing. Sources say Hrithik has already accepted the part, and his scenes are expected to be shot this month.

Jailer 2 cameo details and casting change

A source said, “Hrithik is definitely doing a strong cameo in Jailer 2. He plays the role of Rajini sir's friend who comes into the storyline to help in time of crises. Hrithik will be shooting his part this month.” The role was first meant for Shah Rukh Khan, before scheduling issues changed plans.

Shah Rukh Khan had reportedly locked dates for a five-day cameo in Jailer 2. However, King remains his main focus right now. The actor also wanted his look to stay linked only to that film, according to a source quoted by Pinkvilla. That concern helped shape the final decision.

The same source told Hindustan Times, “The makers were keen to have Shah Rukh Khan onboard for a 5-day cameo, and he was absolutely open to the idea. However, his current focus remains firmly on King, which holds immense importance for him, especially as it marks his daughter Suhana's big-screen launch. In a respectful conversation with the team, SRK expressed his willingness to do the cameo while requesting that the release of Jailer could be aligned post King, as he wanted his appearance to remain exclusive to that film. He has a certain look in King, and he doesn't want to have the same in any other film before.”

Jailer 2 shoot changes and reshoots

Filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar is now making sure Jailer 2 matches audience expectations. Even though the shoot finished some time ago, some portions are being filmed again. The team is reviewing the material carefully and adjusting scenes that did not satisfy them fully.

According to the source, a few actors have been called back for re-shoots. “Some actors have been asked to come back and reshoot the scene. When the team saw the film, they were not happy with certain portions,” the source said. That process is now part of the film’s final stage.

Hrithik’s cameo adds another talking point to Jailer 2, especially because the film already had a different star attached. The change from Shah Rukh Khan to Hrithik Roshan has drawn attention, since both actors have strong fan followings. The new pairing with Rajinikanth has also raised interest around the film’s next phase.

The update also links back to Hrithik’s long gap from working with Rajinikanth. Bhagwan Dada was the last time they appeared together, and Hrithik was then a child performer. Jailer 2 changes that after almost four decades, making the reunion one of the film’s key talking points.
