Cocktail 2 X Review: Shahid Kapoor's rumoured association with Cocktail 2 has put the project back in the spotlight, especially because the film is being discussed as a follow-up to Homi Adajania's 2012 urban romance Cocktail. The original, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, remains popular for its music, styling and complicated friendship-romance dynamic. Industry chatter has linked Shahid with Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna for the new film. To note, Cocktail 2 marks Shahid's second screen outing with Kriti after Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, while pairing him with Rashmika for the first time. Taking to the micro blogging site Twitter, a user wrote, "Cocktail 2 movie review in short: This romantic film is a treat to watch this summer, that gives amazing performances with brilliant music. What do we need more? A Halal cocktail, called Mocktail. RECOMMENDED habibizzz". Another user tweeted, "It's fun, breezy and at times a bit philosophical in (a good way). Interesting conflict but if u go expecting chemistry chemistry, u might feel a bit disappointed. Watch it with open mind for better experience. #ShahidKapoor is nice, it seems a lot about his character is being held back as of now and will revealed in 2nd half. #KritiSanon is the heart and soul of the film. Another wow performance and btw that looks like a bonus after just seeing her existing on the big screen. #RashmikaMandanna is okay. Her accent that continues to show the efforts she puts in is jarring. Sicily adds to the beauty of the film. First half ends at a point which builds curiosity for the 2nd half".

Meanwhile, talking about his character in Cocktail 2, Shahid Kapoor told Hollywood Reporter India, "What excited me more was the character. After a very long time, I'm playing someone who isn't alpha, edgy or morally grey. He's warm, relatable and genuinely likeable. Initially, I thought I'd get bored because I've done this space before, but I was also getting tired of constantly playing complicated characters".
