Box Office - Bholaa Leads By Huge Margin; John Wick 4 Slows Down, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Is Decent

Box Office Update: The weekend gone by belonged entirely to Bholaa as the collections stood at 45 crores*. The film had released on the partial holiday of Ramnavami on Thursday and hence had a four-day extended weekend for it. During this time period, it couldn't score in double digits only once (Friday numbers were 7.40 crores) but outside that the collections were decent to good. While Saturday was bigger than Thursday, the highest collections came on Sunday and that's what helped the film get further ahead of the 40 crores mark.

WEEKEND COLLECTION OF AJAY DEVGN'S BHOLAA

Of course, had the film managed to hit a half century over the weekend then it would have been set for a good score during the weekdays. It can happen now as well since the reports for the film are generally good, even though the target audiences is primarily masses and there too it's the gentry that would be patronizing the action drama before. Hence, one can't expect a run up like that of Drishyam 2 which had scored a lifetime of 241 crores. However, the first target for Bholaa would be to do at least half its business and net around 120 crores eventually.

Meanwhile, John Wick: Chapter 4 slowed down at the start of the weekend, what with only around 1.50 crores coming in. Compared to 6 crores that it fetched on the first day, it's a fall of 75%. Yes, a good count of shows at the IMAX and 4DX screens were taken away since Bholaa had arrived at the same format but then it was still finding quite a few other multiplex screens for itself. That allowed it to make good gains on Saturday and Sunday and while the jumps were good, they were from the low levels at which the film had come down on Friday.

Nonetheless, the film is still a winner since there were hardly any expectations from it to begin with and hence the cost of distribution and release was much lesser. With 43.50 crores* in its kitty so far, it would go past the 50 crores mark in the next few days itself and then eventually would settle down around the lifetime score of 60 crores.

TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR BOX OFFICE UPDATE

As for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, it's now playing at a limited count of screens and shows, what with Bholaa taking over the majority of screen space and John Wick: Chapter 4 coming next. That said, this isn't really an issue for the Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer since a major part of the target audience has already watched the film and now only that segment of youth is stepping in which is late to the party. It is this segment of audience that resulted in 3 crores* been added to the total that has pushed the overall number to 16 crores*.

Lastly, there is Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway which has turned out to be a fair earner for its makers due to controlled costs. Over the weekend gone by, the Rani Mukherji starrer collected 1.30 crores* more and as a result its overall numbers stand at 18.30 crores*. The film will go past the 20 crores mark in its lifetime, which would be a decent enough feat, and then add on a couple of crores more.
