It Helps Me Understand The Character Better: Lokit Phulwani On Creating A Backstory In Tum Dena Saath Mera
Lokit Phulwani, who is seen as Avinash in Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah's Oh Humnava-Tum Dena Saath Mera, which is produced under their banner Studio LSD, says the show deals with complex relationships and second chances, and he approached his character by first understanding its emotional journey.

He said, "I tried to see how these relationships evolve over time and how second chances can change a person's perspective. I kept the emotions as natural as possible, because these situations are very real and relatable. Instead of overthinking, I focused on staying present in the moment and reacting honestly as the character."
"For me, it was important that the audience connect with the sincerity of these relationships and feel the emotional growth. That's what made working on these layered emotions both challenging and rewarding as an actor," he added.
Asked if he created a backstory for his character, he said, "I did think about my character's backstory beyond what was written in the script. It helps me understand the character better, where they come from, what they've gone through, and why they react a certain way in different situations."
"I usually try to imagine the character's life before the story begins, their relationships, experiences, and emotional journey. This makes it easier to stay consistent and respond more naturally during scenes. For me, building a backstory isn't about overthinking but about feeling more connected to the character. It helped me stay in the right mindset and bring more honesty to my performance," he added.
Lokit also mentioned that his role is quite different from the ones he has played before. He said, "There's a certain maturity and depth in the way the character handles relationships and challenges, which made it stand apart from some of my previous roles. I also got the chance to explore more subtle emotions and quieter moments, which I really enjoyed as an actor."
"It wasn't always about big dramatic scenes but more about the small, meaningful transitions in the character's journey. That's what made this role refreshing for me. It pushed me to approach the performance in a more grounded and nuanced way, and that's something I found very fulfilling creatively," he added.
He is happy to be working with Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah's Studio LSD. He said, "It feels like being part of a family. Even though they are the producers, they make everyone on set feel very comfortable and supported. There's a sense of warmth and trust, which creates a very positive working environment."
"Prateek and Parth are not only passionate about their work but also very understanding and approachable. They ensure that everyone feels heard and valued, and that naturally brings a sense of ease while performing. When you're surrounded by people who genuinely care, it reflects in the work as well. For me, being a part of Studio LSD has been a very smooth and memorable experience, and I've genuinely enjoyed working with them," Lokit ended.
