TVK Vijay Thanks Voters After Tamil Nadu Polls, Says 85% Turnout Marks Historic Moment In State Politics

TVK Vijay Thanks Voters: C. Joseph Vijay, chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), shared a detailed message on April 24 following the conclusion of polling for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, describing the voter turnout as a significant moment in the state's political history.

In his statement, Vijay said the April 23 polling reflected a major shift in public participation, particularly among young people and women. He noted that politics had often been viewed as something reserved only for powerful individuals, experienced leaders, or those already holding positions of authority. According to him, the latest election showed that ordinary people had challenged that perception.

Referring to the reported 85 per cent voter turnout, Vijay called it an unprecedented moment for Tamil Nadu. He said such a level of participation had not been witnessed in the state before and described the crowded polling booths as a strong sign of democratic engagement.

He also pointed to the sight of families arriving together at polling stations, comparing the atmosphere to the crowds usually seen during temple festivals. Vijay mentioned that many voters had travelled from other Indian states and even from abroad to cast their votes, calling it an example of commitment to democracy.

The actor-turned-politician said that April 23 truly reflected the meaning of elections being described as a "festival of democracy." At the same time, he added that this should be seen only as the beginning of a larger political change.

Vijay thanked the people of Tamil Nadu for giving meaning to electoral politics and addressed his gratitude to voters across generations, including families, women, youth, and children who participated in the process. He also gave a special mention to younger voters and children who encouraged family members to visit polling booths.

He further acknowledged the efforts of polling booth agents, party workers, and administrators across different levels of TVK's organisational structure. Vijay said those who had questioned their political understanding had now received an answer through their work during the election process.

The TVK leader also thanked the families of party workers for supporting them during the campaign and polling period. He ended his message on a note of optimism, asking supporters to remain hopeful and expressing confidence about the future.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam entered the 2026 Assembly elections as a first-time electoral force, with Vijay leading the party into its debut contest. TVK fielded candidates across all 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, while Vijay himself contested from Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East. The results of the election are scheduled to be announced on May 4.
