Thalapathy Vijay-Sangeetha Divorce Timeline: Here's What Exactly Went Wrong Between The Couple: The actor-politician, who is gearing up for his first elections, is now making headlines after his wife moved for divorce. Thalapathy Vijay's estranged wife Sangeetha Sornalingam has shocked the audiences and media by filing a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu Family Court.

In her divorce petition, Sangeetha has alleged that Vijay's relationship with a prominent actress is the main reason behind their marriage falling apart. It has been confirmed that the couple has been separated from April 2021, after the wife discovered the Leo actor's alleged affair with this frequent co-star.

Sangeetha Sornalingam's divorce petition has raised several serious allegations against the Jana Nayagan actor, including infidelity, cruelty, and mental and physical abuse. According to Thalapathy Vijay's estranged wife, the TVK Chief had initially promised her that he will end his affair with this co-star. But later, Vijay decided to proceed with this extramarital affair and completely neglected his duties towards his wife.

April 2021: Sangeetha Sornalingam discovered that her husband, actor Thalapathy Vijay is having an affair with his frequent co-star. The actor admitted to this affair when confronted, and promised his wife that he will end it. Sangeetha made a final public appearance with Vijay the same year in January, at the Master pre-release event. She was never seen with him in any public platforms thereafter.

September 2021: Vijay was still very much dating this popular actress, and was in no mood to end the affair. Sangeetha reportedly made several attempts to resolve the issues with her estranged husband. But, the TVK Chief increasingly distanced himself from his wife. The estranged couple started living separately in their marital home at Neelankarai, Chennai.

Meanwhile, the rumours on Thalapathy Vijay's alleged relationship with Leo co-star Trisha Krishnan started doing rounds on social media platforms, especially on Reddit. However, both the actors are still remaining tight-lipped about these rumours.

April 2024 to February 2025: Sangeetha, who realised that the marriage is beyond any repair, sent legal notices to Thalapathy Vijay multiple times. The TVK Chief, on the other hand, started openly associating with this co-star and frequently travelled abroad with her. The actress allegedely even shared many pictures from those vacations on her social media platforms.

November 2025: According to the star wife's divorce petition, she wanted to end the marriage, and tried to convince Thalapathy Vijay to file a joint divorce petition. However, the attempts for a mutual separation failed, as the actor refused to give her a divorce, allegedly fearing how this might impact his political career.

Febaruary 24, 2025: Sangeetha Sornalingam finally filed a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu Family Court. In the detailed petition, Vijay's estranged wife has described every emotional, mental, and financial cruelties done by the Jana Nayagan actor, in detail.
