Karuppu Release Delayed: Here’s Why Suriya & Trisha’s Film’s Show Getting Cancelled - Real Reason Revealed
Karuppu Release Delayed: Suriya, who is coming with his first release of the year with Karuppu, is all over the headlines today and rightfully so. After all, the movie, which was scheduled to release on May 14 worldwide has witnessed a last minute delay in release. For the uninitiated, Karuppu which is an action drama, is helmed by RJ Balaji and marks Suriya's collaboration with Trisha Krishnan after over two decades. The movie also stars Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu in key roles.

It is reported that Suriya will be seen playing a double role in Karuppu which has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year. While the movie witnessed a massive buzz, it went on to earn Rs 6.41cr from advance booking in India and over Rs 8cr presales worldwide. However, things took a different turn after the paid premieres and early morning shows were cancelled at the last minute which lead to a chaos. It was reported that Karuppu shows were cancelled citing financial issues. And now, here's the real reason behind Karuppu release delay.
Karuppu Release Delay Reason
The release of Karuppu is reportedly stuck because of unpaid dues in Tamil Nadu. Around Rs 10 crore remains unsettled, according to industry sources. Without resolving this amount, the film failed to get the permissions needed for a timely release. In the Tamil film industry, cinemas can screen a movie only after receiving the KDM (Key Delivery Message). To note, this Key Delivery Message is a secure digital code for the theatre's servers. Distributors often hold back the KDM when producers have not cleared earlier payments. The money issues reportedly extend to unpaid location charges at EVP Studios near Chennai. The production house is said to owe about Rs 50 crore to several parties. These pending amounts have created legal and financial hurdles, blocking final distribution approvals for Karuppu.
Meanwhile, reacting to cancellation of early morning shows, Karuppu director RJ Balaji tweeted, "Dearest fans, I dont have a concrete answer to the current situation. Producers are doing their best to solve the hurdles. This film has always had hurdles, and somehow God has made us sail through all that and here we are after 32 months. This time as well, I have faith, complete faith in him. கருப்பன் எல்லாத் தடையும் அடிச்சு உடைப்பான். #Karuppu நாளைக்கு காலைல செமயா release ஆகும்..!!! நம்பிக்கை வைங்க, நடக்கும்...!!!"
