The National Award-winning actor is all set to make a grand comeback to the big screens after a low phase, with some promising projects. Suriya is teaming up with actor-filmmaker RJ Balaji, for his upcoming project titled Karuppu. After a long wait, the much-awaited has now got a release date.

As you may know, Karuppu was originally expected to hit the theatres across the globe, during the first half of 2026. The Suriya starrer, which was originally slated to get a January 2026 release, was later pushed indefinitely due to the delay in its post-production works, and most importantly, to avoid the Jana Nayagan storm. However, with Thalapathy Vijay's film getting delayed indefinitely, Karuppu is now gearing up for its release.

If the recent updates are to be believed, the makers are keen to release the long awaited Suriya starrer in April 2026, as a Tamil New Year special release. If things go as planned, Karuppu will hit the big screens on April 10, 2026. If this plan materializes, it is going to benefit the RJ Balaji directorial endlessly, as this day is followed by a long, festival weekend.

The makers are expected to drop a new glimpse video of Karuppu, along with the official release date announcement, in a couple of days. Even though the team feel that there is very less time left for the promotions if the film is releasing on April 10, 2026, it is unarguably the best possible release date for the Suriya starrer, in the first half of the year.

Karuppu Cast And Crew

Trisha Krishnan appears as the female lead opposite Suriya, in Karuppu. The RJ Balaji directorial features Malayalam actor Indrans, Yogi Babu, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, and others in the key roles. Sai Abhyankkar has composed the songs and the original score for the film, which is bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures.
