Amid Thalapathy Vijay Divorce Buzz, Son Jason Sanjay Drops ‘V’ From Signature, Misses Oath Ceremony: Report
Vijay was sworn in as Tamil Nadu chief minister after his party won the election, but the event drew substantial online attention due to ongoing divorce proceedings with Sangeetha Sornalingam and related family dynamics, including changes in a son’s signature and public speculation surrounding personal relationships.
Actor-turned-politician Vijay took oath as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 11 May, after Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s sweeping election win. The ceremony at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium drew huge crowds, but the absence of Vijay’s estranged wife Sangeetha Sornalingam and their children dominated online debate.

Sangeetha has been involved in divorce proceedings with Vijay since February 2026, and neither Sangeetha nor the couple’s children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha, appeared at the swearing-in. Their non-attendance fuelled discussion on social media, overshadowing parts of the political celebrations for some observers.
Vijay divorce petition details and allegations
Court documents from the divorce case accuse Vijay of marital misconduct. According to the petition, "In April 2021, the Petitioner (Sangeetha) discovered that the Respondent (Vijay) was involved in an adulterous relationship with an actress. This caused her pain and mental suffering, amounting to betrayal and violation of marital trust."
The filing added that the actor "continued open association with the actress," which allegedly caused emotional distress and embarrassment for Sangeetha and the children. Despite ongoing rumours online linking Vijay and actress Trisha Krishnan, neither Vijay nor Trisha has issued any public response about the allegations or speculation.
Family reactions, Vijay divorce proceedings and public attention
Another point drawing public notice has been Jason Sanjay’s reported decision to alter his signature. Local media claim Vijay and Sangeetha’s son has begun signing as "Jason Sanjay S" instead of "Jason Sanjay V". Reports also suggest Jason unfollowed Vijay on social media after the divorce petition.
While Sangeetha and the children stayed away, other close relatives and colleagues attended the oath-taking. Vijay’s parents, Shoba Chandrasekhar and SA Chandrasekhar, were present, along with several members of Vijay’s political team. Actress Trisha Krishnan also attended the event, which intensified interest in the ongoing personal dispute.
The divorce case is progressing at the Chengalpattu Family Welfare Court. A hearing scheduled in April was reportedly postponed to 15 June, after earlier delays linked to the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Before the polls, Vijay’s election affidavit listed fixed deposits and gold jewellery earmarked for Sangeetha, which also drew attention.
