Vaa Vaathiyaar Gets A New Release Date: The action comedy film which marks the first collaboration of popular actor Karthi and talented filmmaker Nalan Kumarasamy, is one of the most anticipated projects of Tamil cinema. The movie, which was originally expected to hit the theatres on December 12, 2025, was postponed indefinitely due to financial reasons. But now, Vaa Vaathiyaar has reportedly got a new release date.

If the recent updates are to be believed, the much-awaited Karthi starrer is gearing to have its worldwide release on December 24, 2025. The sources close to the project suggest that the makers have no plans to push the film into the Pongal 2026 season (January 2026). The Vaa Vaathiyaar team is reportedly keen to release the film during the Christmas weekend, as it will ensure that the project will have a solo run at the theatres.

The industry insiders also suggest that production banner Studio Green has no plans to have a clash release with the upcoming big releases of January 2026 - Thalapathy Vijay starrer Jana Nayagan and Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi. An official announcement on the Vaa Vaathiyar release date is expected to be out on social media platforms, very soon.

Vaa Vaathiyaar Plot, Cast And Crew

As per the reports, the upcoming Karthi starrer revolves around the life of a young cop named DSP Rameshwaran, who has a filmy exterior. His grandfather believes that he is a reincarnation of legendary Tamil superstar and politican, MGR. Vaa Vaathiyaar depicts how the Rameshwaran's decision to join the police force changes his life.

Karthi appears as DSP Rameshwaran in the film, which stars Krithi Shetty as the female lead. Sathyaraj, Raj Kiran, Nizhalgal Ravi, Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Ramesh Thilak, PL Thenappan, and others essay the supporting roles in Vaa Vaathiyaar. Santhosh Narayanan composed the songs and original score for the film. George C Williams cranked the camera and Vetre Krishnan handled the editing.
