Patriot Celebrity Review: The Malayalam film Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, is set to reach theatres worldwide on May 1, 2026. Ahead of its release, filmmaker B. Unnikrishnan shared his thoughts on the project through a detailed social media post, reflecting on its scale, theme, and the effort behind bringing it to the screen.

Backed by producers Anto Joseph and K. G. Anil Kumar, Patriot brings together a large ensemble cast led by Mammootty and Mohanlal. The film also features Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathi, and Rajiv Menon, among others. Notably, the project marks the coming together of Mammootty and Mohanlal on screen after a gap of more than a decade.

In his note, Unnikrishnan pointed to this reunion as one of the film's major talking points, while also underlining the breadth of talent involved both in front of and behind the camera. He recalled his long-standing acquaintance with Anto Joseph, mentioning that he had known the producer even before he entered the film industry. According to Unnikrishnan, Anto's journey to becoming a prominent producer involved overcoming several challenges, and he highlighted this progression in his note.

The director also reflected on the early stages of the project, recalling when Mahesh Narayanan and Anto Joseph first approached Mohanlal with the idea. He noted that from the outset, Anto remained firmly supportive of Mahesh Narayanan's vision for the film.

Beyond its star cast and production scale, Unnikrishnan highlighted the thematic direction of Patriot. He stated that the film attempts to address the idea that privacy has become increasingly fragile in contemporary times. He further indicated that the narrative engages with political elements relevant to the present, reflecting contemporary realities.
