Spider-Noir Update: Prime Video is preparing to take audiences into a darker and more atmospheric corner of the Marvel universe with its upcoming live-action series Spider-Noir. Unlike traditional superhero shows, this series leans heavily into a noir tone, focusing on mood, mystery, and morally complex characters rather than flashy action alone.

Set in 1930s New York, the story of Spider-Noir unfolds in a city filled with crime, secrets, and uneasy alliances. The narrative revolves around Ben Reilly, a private investigator whose life is shaped by loss and regret. Long before the events of the series, Ben was known as "The Spider," the city's only masked hero.

After a deeply personal tragedy, he abandoned that identity and chose a quieter, ordinary life. However, when an unusual and dangerous case lands on his desk, Ben is forced to confront the past he has been running from and decide whether he can step back into a role that once defined him.

The world of Spider-Noir is populated by characters who add depth to Ben's journey. A determined journalist struggles to survive in an unforgiving system while staying loyal to his closest friend. A glamorous nightclub star appears self-focused on the surface, but her story hides far more complexity. Meanwhile, Ben's sharp and fearless secretary refuses to stay silent, often speaking truths others avoid.

Prime Video recently released first-look images from the series, giving viewers an early glimpse into its stylised setting and characters. The show marks Nicolas Cage's first leading role in a television series, with the actor stepping into the role of Ben Reilly. The cast also includes Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson, alongside several well-known guest stars.

SPIDER-NOIR RELEASE DATE UPDATE

Based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, the series is produced by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video. In a unique move, Spider-Noir will be available to stream in both black-and-white and full-colour formats. The series is set to premiere globally in Spring 2026.
