Back in 2021, Ransone had shared that he had been sexually abused as a child by one of his former tutors, which led to a "lifetime of shame and embarrassment." "When this is one's experience of the world as a child, they begin to see themselves as unlovable and irredeemable," Ransone wrote. "I saw myself as a worthless hunk of flesh not worth saving, or defending. I saw myself as broken, that what you did to me I somehow deserved. Mostly I felt ashamed as a boy that I would let another male do that to me, and that somehow this was my fault," he'd continued.
