De De Pyaar De 2 arrives as the much-awaited continuation of the 2019 hit, picking up the story of Ashish (Ajay Devgn) and Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh) from the exact point where audiences last saw them.

The sequel begins with a quick and engaging recap of the first part - how Ashish (Ajay Devgn) introduces Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh) to his family and how, after plenty of chaos and misunderstandings, they finally accept her. This smooth recall sets the tone for the new chapter, where the tables turn and Ayesha is now ready to introduce Ashish to her own family.

The story shifts its focus to Ayesha's house, where her parents, played wonderfully by R Madhavan and Gautami Kapoor, take center stage. Ishita Dutta joins the cast as Ayesha's sister-in-law, adding warmth and relatability to the family setup. Ayesha plans to announce her relationship to her parents after her bhabhi's delivery, but fate works differently.

Her parents find out sooner and immediately ask her to bring Ashish home. Interestingly, they remain unaware of the age gap between the two, which becomes the core conflict of the story once they finally meet Ashish.

When Ashish arrives with Ayesha, her parents are visibly shocked, even though they try to hide their discomfort behind polite smiles. Their hesitation grows stronger when they begin questioning Ashish's background and, most importantly, his age.

The moment they learn the truth, they quietly decide to create a plan to separate the couple. From this point on, the narrative revolves around whether their plan will succeed or whether Ashish will win their hearts against the odds.

The film's first half is lively, humorous, and packed with entertaining moments. The screenplay includes witty dialogues, situational comedy, and light emotional beats that keep the audience engaged. Although predictable, the first half still works because of the fun interactions between Ayesha, her parents, and Ashish.

However, De De Pyaar De 2 takes a noticeable dip in the second half. The narrative slows down, the humour fades, and emotional moments feel stretched. The sudden shift from lively entertainment to dull drama affects the overall impact. A pre-climax twist tries to revive the storyline, and though it is interesting, it comes too late to fully save the film from its uneven second-half execution.

The performances, however, are the movie's saving grace. R Madhavan stands out as the biggest highlight of the film. His natural charm, impeccable timing, and effortless screen presence lift every scene he appears in. He single-handedly adds freshness and depth to the film, making his performance one of the most talked-about aspects of the sequel.

Rakul Preet Singh delivers a balanced performance with several good emotional and dramatic moments. Ajay Devgn is sincere as Ashish, but his character feels underwritten this time, making him appear less impactful compared to the rest of the cast. Gautami Kapoor shines as Ayesha's mother, and her chemistry with Madhavan is delightful.

In the supporting cast, Meezaan Jafri arrives in the second half and performs with honesty. Ishita Dutta and Jaaved Jaaferi also leave a mark with their likable characters and confident portrayals.
