Did Yami Gautam Really Like Reel Questioning Kriti Sanon's Best Actress Win?

The beef around Kriti Sanon vs Yami Gautam controversy has been trending lately on the internet. It all started with the Uri actress allegedly liking an Instagram reel trolling Kriti Sanon's best actress win for Tere Ishk Mein over Yami Gautam for Haq.

The said reel showed Kriti happily posing with her trophy after the win andwas edited with one of the quotes from Yami's interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, where she had said, "You try everything, and it still doesn't work. So, I've stopped seeking any kind of validation. If I get that award, then I am a good actress, and otherwise, I'm not. Nothing like that." The reel in question ended with the question, "Is it fair?", prompting debate over whether the outcome was unfair to Yami and raising questions about Kriti's win.

Meanwhile, Yami Gautam, in the wee hours of Friday (March 6), took to her official social media handles and finally addressed the ongoing debate. Penning a fiery note, the actress clarified that the like was accidental and not a conscious engagement, as celebrities get tagged on multiple posts on a daily basis.

"It has come to my notice that I apparently 'liked' a reel that is condescending toward another actor. We get tagged in multiple things every day, and this appeared during an award-function reference like any other tag. It isn't true and was definitely not done consciously, if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally, (sic)" a part of her note read.

In the same post, Yami further went on to clarify that she doesn't have a PR team and she strongly despises the idea of getting involved in "cheap PR tactics" targeting another actor.

"Never in my life have I resorted to cheap PR tactics. I have always focused on my work and moved on.

In the world of clickbait, it's tempting for even dignified social media portals to harp on this and turn it into coffee-table gossip. But I would hope they would consider that I have earned a better reputation than that.

I have no PR team, have respectfully cleared my stance on entertainment award shows long ago, and remain focused on my work. 🙏🏻, (sic)" Yami added.
