Toxic: Tara Sutaria Reacts To Delay In Yash's Movie Release: It's Definitely Worth The Wait
Tara Sutaria says the delay in Yash’s film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups comes from practical reasons linked to release plans and global distribution, and that the film is “definitely worth the wait.” Tara feels the extra time will help Toxic reach more countries and believes the audience’s patience will be rewarded when the film finally opens.

The pan-India project has already missed two scheduled dates, yet Tara remains calm about the shift. The actor says the team is working on a larger vision for Toxic and that the new strategy is meant to support the film’s worldwide reach rather than rush it into cinemas for a quick release.
Toxic delay and global release plans
Toxic was first set for a worldwide theatrical release on 19 March, where it would have released alongside Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar. That clash was avoided when Toxic moved to 4 June instead. The decision followed disruption in the Middle East during the Iran-Israel conflict, which affected distribution plans.
Yash later confirmed that Toxic had been pushed back once more, even though the film itself was complete. The focus, Yash said, had shifted to securing wider international distribution and strategic partnerships. The team hoped this step would allow Toxic to open in more markets and build a stronger presence for Indian cinema overseas.
| Event | Date | Details |

Toxic delay, Tara Sutaria’s reaction and audience expectations
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Tara explained why the repeated delays do not make Tara uneasy. Tara said, "I am very patient. I don't look at it as if it doesn't release right away, what will happen to me? I am thinking about the bigger picture… as an actor you can't look at the film as yours. It does not belong to you. It is everybody's that created it."
Tara also acknowledged that viewers are eager to see Yash’s next film after KGF, yet believes the producers and director must take the final call. Tara said, "I also understand that I am here to do my job as an actor. Beyond that, I may not have the same understanding that the producers or directors do. There are reasons behind the delay, and I genuinely think those reasons are valid. I completely understand the audience's eagerness to watch the film, trust me, I feel the same way, but I believe the wait will ultimately benefit the film and help it receive the kind of global embrace we are hoping for. It is definitely worth the wait."
Earlier, Yash had shared a detailed note on Instagram that shed light on why Toxic needed more time. Yash wrote, "There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey. Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed, that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide." The post underlined the importance of the film’s global rollout.
Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Geetu Mohandas. Yash plays the lead, with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria in important roles. The first teaser drew controversy, with some viewers calling parts of it "grossly obscene" and "sexually explicit," which sparked debate around the film’s tone.
Despite schedule changes and early criticism of the teaser, Toxic continues to be counted among the most awaited Indian titles. The film’s makers are now focused on securing the best possible launch worldwide, while Tara reiterates that the reasons for the delay are valid and that Toxic, whenever it arrives in cinemas, is “definitely worth the wait.”
