Richa Chadha Reconnects With Her Love For Belly Dancing; Completes An Intensive 5-Day Course In Goa
Richa Chadha begins a five day belly dancing training in Goa, focusing on personal growth and sustained practice after a motherhood hiatus. The course reinforces a long standing interest in tribal belly dance and therapeutic movement, reflecting a commitment to continuous learning beyond acting roles.
Actor and producer Richa Chadha is back to belly dancing with fresh focus, signing up for an intensive five-day training course in Goa. The decision follows a gap caused by professional commitments and motherhood, and reflects a personal wish to study the form more deeply, away from film demands or performance deadlines.

Richa Chadha first explored belly dancing several years ago while preparing for a special song in a film. That project introduced Richa to tribal belly dancing with internationally known instructor Olga Meos in Kazakhstan. What began as role preparation gradually turned into a serious interest that blended fitness discipline with creative freedom for the performer.

The tribal style’s detailed core engagement and strict body isolations appealed to Richa Chadha, who enjoyed the physical challenge. After her Kazakhstan training, Richa continued learning with Mumbai-based teacher Shaina Lebana, building technique through regular, demanding practice. Over time, belly dancing became a parallel artistic track, separate from acting work, yet still shaping Richa’s approach to performance.
When lockdowns halted film shoots, Richa Chadha sustained belly dancing practice online. Virtual sessions helped Richa refine movements and maintain rhythm during months at home. Dance also remained a link to earlier training, as Richa is a Kathak practitioner who spent nearly ten childhood years studying under Pandit Abhay Shankar Mishra.
Richa Chadha belly dancing comeback after delivery and hiatus
The latest Goa workshop signals a new phase, as Richa Chadha returns to belly dancing after a break caused by busy schedules. This time, the focus is on inward growth rather than stage output. The actor wants concentrated, immersive learning that supports well-being, artistic curiosity, and a steady relationship with movement.
Speaking about resuming training, Richa said, "I got back to dancing about 6-7 months after my delivery, I got in touch with Dipika Vijay because she is an amazing teacher. What started as an exploration into the use of belly dance as therapy, in my post partum phase as actually blossomed into a full-blown parallel interest of mine. After a gap of a few years, I felt the urge to reconnect with it in a more dedicated way. This course in Goa is not for a role or a performance; it's purely for myself, to learn, to grow, and to fall in love with the form all over again."
With this renewed engagement with belly dancing, Richa Chadha underlines how artistic practice for Richa continues beyond film sets. The choice to train in Goa, revisit earlier methods, and explore therapeutic aspects reflects ongoing commitment to learning, steady discipline, and a broader interest in performance traditions that have shaped Richa since childhood.
