Cannes 2026: Disha Madan Returns With A Contemporary Tribute To South Indian Craftsmanship
Cannes 2026: Actor Disha Madan returned to the Cannes Film Festival 2026 this year for her second consecutive appearance, continuing her fashion narrative centred around Indian craftsmanship, regional identity and contemporary representation on a global stage.

For Cannes 2026, Disha appeared in a custom couture creation by Bangalore-based label Niharika Vivek as part of the Brut x Nespresso Cannes appearance. Rooted in South Indian heritage while interpreted through a modern lens, the ensemble transformed two vintage silk sarees into a sculptural western silhouette.
Inspired by the stone carvings and feminine strength seen across South Indian temple architecture, the look balanced structure with fluidity while preserving the identity and history of the original sarees. The ensemble incorporated intricate Banjara Kasuti embroidery and involved over 2,500 hours of handwork by women artisans, alongside extensive textile restoration and couture finishing.

Speaking about the look, Disha Madan said, "For me, Cannes has never just been about fashion, it's about representation. Wearing something so deeply rooted in South Indian craftsmanship and heritage felt incredibly special. I love that we could take vintage sarees with so much history and reinterpret them in a way that still feels global, modern and powerful."
The look also reflected a strong sustainability narrative, reimagining heirloom textiles into contemporary couture while celebrating Indian craftsmanship on one of the world's biggest fashion stages.
With this appearance, Disha Madan continues to build a distinct visual identity at Cannes - one that places Indian heritage not as costume, but as contemporary couture worthy of the global stage.
