Annu Kapoor Responds To 'Milky Body' Comment On Tamannaah Bhatia, Clarifies His Stance: If You Felt Bad...

Annu Kapoor's remark about Tamannaah Bhatia sparked debate over context, intent, and language. The discussion covers how such comments are perceived, cultural interpretation, and whether the remark was meant as praise or objectification, with attention to the surrounding rehearsal and production context.

Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has responded to criticism over a remark on Tamannaah Bhatia, insisting the words were meant as praise. The line “Mashallah kya dudhiya badan hai” from a podcast in 2025 went viral. Many social media users called the phrase disrespectful. Kapoor has now explained the context and defended the intent.

During a fresh interaction on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel, Annu Kapoor revisited the controversy and described how the remark arose. Kapoor said the discussion began while reviewing a performance on the song Aaj Ki Raat. The actor argued that the phrase was taken out of context, which then fuelled the backlash online.

Annu Kapoor milky body comment and podcast incident revisited

The original comment surfaced on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, where Kapoor reacted to Tamannaah Bhatia’s appearance in the Aaj Ki Raat track from Stree 2. While watching the clip, Kapoor had said, "Mashallah kya dudhiya badan hai (Oh my god, what milky body she has)." The sentence spread quickly across platforms, drawing accusations of objectifying Tamannaah.

Explaining the background, Annu Kapoor said the incident was linked to stage shows held in America in 2025. Kapoor recalled telling the creative team that the contestants performing there were strong, so a trickier or “googly-type” song was needed. The team then suggested Aaj Ki Raat as a challenging option, especially because the 'mukhda’ was considered difficult.

Annu Kapoor milky body comment explained through show preparation

Kapoor recounted that the team first discussed the composition and its popularity before showing the video. Kapoor said, "Last year I had shows in America. I told our creative team that the contestants are good, so suggest a googly-type song. Then they played this song 'Aaj Ki Raat'. I said the composition is very good." Kapoor added that contestants might struggle with the song’s structure.

Continuing the account, Annu Kapoor said the producers played Tamannaah Bhatia’s performance for reference. Kapoor recalled saying she danced very well. He stated that this viewing, and his reaction to her on-screen presence, led to the viral line. According to Kapoor, nothing more happened in that moment beyond a spontaneous observation during rehearsal work.

Language debate around Annu Kapoor milky body comment

Addressing the strong reactions, Annu Kapoor argued that the phrase drew greater anger because it was said in Hindi. Kapoor said some users abused him, while others pointed out that “milky body” is often used in English without complaint. Kapoor added that insults or bold phrases in one’s own language tend to feel harsher.

Kapoor said, "If you say it in English, it's fine, but in Hindi it becomes a problem. Abuse in our own language hits harder, but if you say the same thing in English, no one has an issue. If I had said 'milky body', there would have been no problem." Kapoor also mentioned critics calling Kapoor an old man.

Referring to Tamannaah Bhatia’s age, Annu Kapoor remarked, "What age would she be—28, 30? My children are that age. Just because I said 'dudhiya badan', people started calling me an old man and trolling me." Kapoor insisted that the remark was not meant to be lewd, but an appreciative comment made during work discussions.

Intent behind Annu Kapoor milky body comment and apology offer

Clarifying further, Annu Kapoor said observing someone’s looks, including physique, does not automatically suggest desire. Kapoor described it as appreciation similar to admiring a Rolls-Royce car, where liking the design does not always mean wanting to own it. Kapoor underlined a difference between noticing appearance and harbouring lust or inappropriate thoughts.

On whether regret was felt, Annu Kapoor stated that Kapoor stands by the words but is ready to apologise if Tamannaah Bhatia felt hurt. Kapoor said, "If she asks me whether I said it, I will say yes, I did. If you felt bad, I will touch your feet. If a 71-year-old man touches her feet, what will she say? Nothing, because I am not doing it with any wrong intention."

Tamannaah Bhatia’s Aaj Ki Raat performance appears in the film Stree 2, which also features Pankaj Tripathi and Rajkummar Rao. The episode has sparked debate on language, age and intent in public comments about appearance. Kapoor’s detailed response now places the focus on context and cultural interpretation rather than altering the original remark.
