Aamir Khan has confirmed that Rajkumar Hirani is actively developing a 3 Idiots sequel, ending long-running speculation among fans. Aamir shared that discussions are underway, and that a new story set a decade later has already been narrated to the cast member.

Released in 2009, 3 Idiots was written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, co-written by Abhijat Joshi, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film featured Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi in lead roles, with Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, Mona Singh, and Omi Vaidya in key supporting parts.

Speaking in an interview, Aamir Khan revealed fresh details about the project. Aamir said, "At this time, he is working on 3 Idiots sequel. I have heard the narration. It looks good. It has the same humour but with an unusual story. It has the same 3 Idiots characters, but it takes place 10 years after the original film."

Aamir also made it clear that returning as Phunsukh Wangdu is a priority. Aamir said, "This is one of the films I will be working on soon. I think it's a beautiful story and Abhijat and Raju have written it very well. So, I am also waiting to do that." Hirani, known for a long list of box office hits, keeps a 100% success record so far.
