Bhaag Johnny

A thriller that engages you at first and then starts with its stupid twists. If only, the story was stronger, the film could have been a decent watch. Bhaag Johnny is completely passable. The mediocre content is not worth your time and money.

Janardan Arora aka Johnny (Kunal Khemu) is away from home in Bangkok to earn livelihood. His mother is a worried lot back home for irregular contact with Johnny. She shows his astrological chart to one Acharya who predicts that Johnny’s life is in danger. He suggests a remedy through positive Tantra mediation. Johnny gets trapped by her employer Ramona ( Zoa Morani) for doing insider trading. She threatens him with jail term if he does not toe her line. Ramona gives him a task of wooing one girl Tanaya (Mandana Karimi). Johnny is all game for such a task. But when he is told that now he has to kill the girl, Johnny refuses as he is not a murderer. He is in a dilemma. At this juncture a Jinn (Vikram Bhatt with his natural wig of white,dishevlled hair) appears. Jinn offers him a way out. He has two choices. Either to kill Tanaya or save her. He will have to lead two lives. Whatever is the outcome, he will have to choose the one he likes and that will be his destiny. In this cross-cutting narrative of two parallel scenarios,director Shivamm Nair (Of Ahista Ahista fame) has nothing unique to offer. You will have to rely on the good old nail-cutter to pair your nails instead of getting an opportunity to go for a manicure in a nail-biting thriller. Runs Out Of Steam In The Beginning Itself.

The idea behind this film is to catch the glimpse of a life of one man who has no option but to lead two different lives at the very same time. Amidst all this you can find two women in life, and the complexity along with other aspects of his life that makes the movie complex and interesting to catch. So, what happens at the end is worthy to catch when the secret of one man leading two lives come out, may be this is the only when he is asked by his well wisher- Bhaag Johnny. Bhaag Johnny has not much in it both in terms of content and performance. Considering the naive performance from Kunal Khemu who though seems to be an actor present since long in B Town, along with the novices who failed to give a decent performance, there isn’t anything cool about the film. So, in nutshell, shabby performance, low music tunes, flawed script are thy name Bhaag Johnny, which will need miles to go in order to compete with other movies releasing this Friday. Unless, you are Kunal Khemu, which I doubt you are, there is no point in catching up this film.
