Raja Shivaji Box Office Collection Day 2: Riteish Deshmukh's latest Marathi historical drama, Raja Shivaji, has reached cinemas and is drawing strong reactions. Early audience feedback across India praises the scale, performances and emotional pitch. The trailer had already created heavy curiosity, and the film now attempts to meet those expectations. The project centres on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire, with the narrative designed as a large-screen retelling of Shivaji's life and legacy. Raja Shivaji positions itself as both an action drama and a character study, aiming to connect with Marathi and wider Indian viewers.

Riteish Deshmukh leads the film as Shivaji and also directs the project, extending long-standing work in Marathi cinema alongside Bollywood roles. The story is co-written by Riteish with Ajit Wadekar and Sandeep Patil, reflecting a collaborative attempt to shape a fresh cinematic interpretation of this historic figure. The ensemble cast features Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi and Amole Gupte. Adding a personal layer, Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh's son, Rahyl Deshmukh, appears as the young Shivaji, linking the film's central role across generations on screen.

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Raja Shivaji witnessed an overall dip of 7% in numbers on day 2 (first Saturday) and earned Rs 10.55cr in India. To note, this included the collection of Rs 3.4cr in Hindi market and Rs 7.15cr in Marathi. As a result, the total collection of Raja Shivaji has emerged as Rs 21.90cr after two days of release

Raja Shivaji Creates New Record

Interestingly, with a total collection of Rs 15.15cr after two days in the Marathi market, Raja Shivaji has managed to beat the lifetime collection of Aga Aga Sunbai! Kay Mhantay Sasubai? (Rs 8.97cr) and has emerged as the second highest grossing Marathi movie of the year.

Meanwhile, Riteish credited his wife Genelia Deshmukh, who is also the producer, for making the film as per a report in Money Control and stated, "As the producer, Genelia said, 'You just worry about the film that you want to make. It's my job to provide you with what you need for your vision.' If there ever came a point where we couldn't afford something, she would say, 'I will try and manage,' she never said 'no' to my vision. That is why we were able to achieve so much, even within our limited capacity. She wanted what is best for me and the film, and you need people like that".
